08 Sep How to make the best veggie burger
Welcome back to Sandtondiet and to this week’s recipe on how to make the best ever veggie burger. If you aren’t vegetarian or vegan yourself don’t skip pass this post! If you have anyone in your life that is vegetarian, this quick and easy veggie burger will truly impress them.
This vegan veggie burger is the ultimate burger. It is absolutely loaded with the most gorgeous flavours so that each mouthful is a burst of deliciousness. Even meat eaters will love this one.
The key to a good Veggie burger are the various layers that make up the burger. Each layer adds an essential component to the burger that all compliment each other perfectly.
The “meat” of this burger consists of a large mushroom that has been marinaded and cooked in a BBQ sauce. If you’ve ever heard of a mushroom steak, this is how it’s made. I cooked the mushroom steak in the oven for this Veggie burger but its equally scrumptious cooked on the barbecue /braai.
If Veggie burgers aren’t your thing don’t worry, I have lots of other vegetarian recipes on my blog. These Coconut curried lentils are divine. They are the perfect blend of spices and coconut and are sure to delight. The quick and easy vegetarian sushi burgers are such fun. They are quick and easy to prepare but are so yummy to eat!
Aside from this veggie burger recipe and my other recipes there is lots of other vegetarian cooking inspiration out there. For other vegan inspiration you have to check out Richa Hingle at https://www.veganricha.com/recipes . I know that i have mentioned her before but each and very one of her recipes are superb! She is incredible creative. Mel McDonald from a Virtual vegan also has fabulous recipes that are truly worth having a look at.
Well that’s all from me today. I hope that you have enjoyed today’s recipe inspiration and look forward to more sharing next week. Leanne xoxo
How to make the best ever Veggie burger
2 large mushrooms
1/4 cup store bought BBQ marinade
1 Tbsp canola oil
2 large onions, sliced
2 tsp brown sugar
3 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
1 large tomato, sliced
Guacamole, store bought
1.Pour the marinade over both the mushrooms and make sure that it covers the whole mushroom
2.Allow the mushrooms to marinade for 20 minutes
3.Place the mushrooms on a rack in a baking tray so that there is space between the mushrooms and the bottom of the baking tray
4.Bake the mushrooms at 190°C for 40 minute or until cooked through to your liking
5.To make the onions, add the canola oil to a pan and add the sliced onions and begin to saute
6.Add the balsamic vinegar and sugar and cook for 30 minutes or until Caramelised (I usually put the lid onto the pot to do this…)
Assemble the veggie burger
7. This bit is up to you! Add the lettuce, mushroom, tomato, guacamole and onions and get ready for a heavenly mouthful of vegetarian goodness
